Goodreads description:
Jessica's had the nightmares for as long as she can remember. Nightmares of being judged for people who have died, of being branded by the angels. Her friends and family think she's a crazy because of it all. Yet she carries the mark of the condemned, seared into the back of her neck, and hides it and herself away from the world.
But when two men she can't ignore enter her life everything changes, including the nightmares. The two of them couldn't be more different. She will do anything to be with one of them. Even tell him the truth about angels, why she never sleeps, and the scar on the back of her neck. But one of the two has set events into motion what will pull her toward her own judgment and turn her into the object of her greatest fear.
MARY'S REVIEW
I was first introduced to Keary Taylor when I read her book "What I Didn't Say". It was an outstanding book. Then I saw on her Goodreads about this series she wrote and I purchased the first book.
Best Part of the book: It is a very unique story. From the moment I started this book I felt sorry for Jessica. The girl has had a terrible life. Between the nightmares, her family and her lack of sleep, I am surprised this girl is still alive. Enter Alex. Oh, another fictional boyfriend has graced my Book Nerd life. His kindness and compassion for Jessica comes across on every single page. He truly loves her and their interactions are nothing but sweet, kind and perfection. I love their progression of the relationship. Another character that I enjoyed was, Sal. Jessica was her "caretaker" and even though Sal seems "crazy" she is more observant than most. Of course, I cannot forget Cole. I was unsure about him. Was he good? Was he bad? Nonetheless, I enjoyed the story line.
Not so great about the book: There is nothing really "wrong" with the book. The story progressed well. Keary Taylor was very descriptive in the scenarios with Jessica. I enjoyed all the characters and I will look forward to book 2.
