Passion by Lauren Kate

Luce would die for Daniel.

And she has. Over and over again. Throughout time, Luce and Daniel have found each other, only to be painfully torn apart: Luce dead, Daniel left broken and alone. But perhaps it doesn’t need to be that way. . .

Luce is certain that something—or someone—in a past life can help her in her present one. So she begins the most important journey of this lifetime . . . going back eternities to witness firsthand her romances with Daniel . . . and finally unlock the key to making their love last.

Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history.

Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames . . . forever.

Sweeping across centuries, PASSION is the third novel in the unforgettably epic FALLEN series. (Goodreads Overview)

Jacque's Review:
After finishing Torment, I had high hopes for Passion.  I thought the series may finally make it to 4 stars from the 3 stars I have given the first two books, but this was not the case.  I was still at a solid 3 stars for the third installment in this series.  I still really enjoyed the characters and the story line, but it just didn't grab and hold my attention like so many other books I have read lately.

Passion consists primarily of Luce and Daniel traveling through their past lives trying to find a way to break their curse.  At first, I thought it was interesting to see their former lives.  Luce's love for Daniel continued to grow with each encounter and she learns more about the fallen angels, the war they are battling, and how the curse ultimately came to be.  After a while, however, it started to get a bit monotonous.  I felt like the book was dragging and we were never going to get out of the cycle we had started.  Perhaps if Daniel and Luce could have made the journey together, I would have enjoyed it more. They were apart the majority of the book and we just didn't get the interaction and relationship development I was hoping for.

I will admit, the ending of Passion was very exciting.  Lauren has set up an explosive ending to the series and I am anxious to see how everything will unfold.  Rapture is scheduled to be released June 12, 2012.  I honestly hope that Luce and Daniel will FINALLY get the happily ever after they  have been searching for all along.  They have suffered for what seems like eternity.  They deserve to finally find some happiness, but I am sure Lauren Kate will not let them find it easily.

  1. Hmm....thanks for this review. I keep trying to hang onto this series, because I have SUCH high hopes...but they always fall a little short. Not sure I'll be picking up Passion anytime soon.
